URSC Internship Programme

Department of Space (DOS) has the primary responsibility of promoting Development of Space Science, Technology and Applications towards achieving self-reliance and facilitating all-round development of the nation. DOS/ISRO is the prime R&D organisation in the country involved in realisation of space technologies and systems. The Government of India announced the National Education Policy (NEP-2020). As part of a holistic education concept of NEP-2020, students will have to be provided with opportunities for internships with local industry, businesses, artists, crafts persons, villages and local communities, etc., so that students may actively engage with practical side of their learning and as a by-product, further improve their employability.

ISRO has decided to implement an "Internship Scheme" for graduate / post-graduate research students for acquiring hands-on / industry experience in line with reputed space agencies viz., NASA, ESA and JAXA etc.

The Internship programme will provide a platform for interaction with Scientists/Engineers to allow young academic talent scholars and researchers from reputed academic institutions who are pursuing Graduation / Post-Graduation Research in the disciplines of Science / Technology which are relevant to DOS/ISRO programmes.

The Scheme has the following stated objectives:
     (a) To allow young academic talent to be associated with DOS / ISRO Centres / Units for mutual benefit;
     (b) The "Interns" may benefit by getting an exposure to the Government functioning and application of theory into practice. This programme would facilitate the young talent to choose a career path;

Eligibility Conditions / Guidelines
The following candidates are eligible to apply for Internship Scheme:

  (a) The Candidate should be a Citizen of India;
 
  (b) The Candidate should be pursuing UG/PG/PhD from a recognised University/Institution (India/Abroad)
 
(OR)
 
  (c) The candidates should have just completed UG/PG from a recognised University/Institution, seeking internship opportunity (within 6 months from tha date of award of degree) for profile enhancement;
 
  (d) The candidate should be student enrolled for regular on-campus programme in a recognised University/Institution
 
(OR)
 
  (e) The candidate should have completed UG/PG/PhD as a regular on campus student;
 
  (f) Specialization/Branch relevant to the activities of URSC will be considered;
 
  (g) The Candidate should possess aggregate of Min.60% or CGPA 6.32 on a scale of 10;
 
  (h) Students seeking opportunity shall submit a bonafide certificate duly issued by Head of the Department/Principal/Director of the institute;
 
  (i) The Period of Internship shall be a maximum of 45 days;
 
  (j) The interns shall not be eligible for any stipend/renumeration/financial assistance;
 
  (k) The interns shall not be eligible for accommodation facility during their internship in DOS/ISRO Centres/Units;
 
  (l) Certificate will be awarded to interns upon satisfactory completion of their internship and on submission of their assignment Report and its evaluation by the concerned officials.
